Climate Change
Climate change is a HOT topic of course. And our goal is not to SWAY anyone in any direction. What we care about is data. And beauty. And that's what's on the pillow!
The purpose of this eye-opening pillow is to serve as conversation fuel for the intellectually curious for decades or millennia to come! If this pillow is lost for 1000 years and someone finds it, it will still be relevant.

Below are the graphs that have been used to create the Climate Change Pillow. Assembling appropriate and reliable data for 500 million years of climate change is difficult for a number of reasons including:
We try to strike a balanced representation given these challenges. Our graphics are meant to be a generally accurate representation of climate change over the long-term. We wholeheartedly welcome your feedback on our pillow and our data. Please provide it here.
- Formal measurement of climate data began only in the 1800s. Therefore, the vast majority of climate data is estimated using various techniques such as ice cores and oyster shells.
- To compile detailed data for such a long period requires using a multitude of different studies and graphs, and it has not been the effort of this project, nor does Swayed have the expertise to meaningfully evaluate said studies.
- Attempting to simplify the climate record into one line is particularly dicey considering the temperature changes vary greatly between geographic regions. For example, the temperature history of Greenland is quite different from that of Antarctica.
- There is not always a consensus within the data and it can be difficult to solve the differences.
